Starting a new book!!
Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone!
Okay, I really enjoy writing and I figured everyone else rights about Hollywood Heights, why not me too?
This is my first chapter and I didn’t really know where to start so I just picked a spot from the show and I’ll drift from there! Don’t be too harsh! And I know it’s short!
“Just enter your song!”
“I wish it was that easy.” Loren said to Melissa. As much as she loved her like a sister she never had, Loren really wished she’d stop telling her to enter.
“Loren!” Mel sat next to her on her bed. “You’re a wonderful singer and that was a beautiful song.”
Loren looked at her then down at her fingers. She really wanted to enter she was just nervous. “I can’t. Can we leave it at that? Please, Mel?”
Mel looked at her with a frown. She just wanted to support her best friend, she knew she had talent and she needed to show it. Despite this, Mel nodded.
Loren smiled and touched Mel’s hand. “One day I’ll get there. Maybe not through Eddie Duran but somehow.”
Mel weakly smiled. “You’re right.” She straightened her slouched posture. “You’ll get famous and I’ll be right there next to you.” She formed her fingers into a square and focused on Loren. “Recording everything for the documentary I’ll make.” Mel held up her hands as if advertising something. “Loren Tate: Ordinary to Superstar.”
Loren laughed. “Okay, Mel! Just show my good side.” Loren stood up. “And no melt downs!”
Mel looked at her as if she said something ridiculous. “But that’s the money maker!”
Loren shook her head. “That’s a label: Drama Queen.” Loren grabbed her cup off the desk. “I’m getting a refill. Need one?”
Mel shook her head. “No thanks.”
Loren smiled. “Kay, be right back.” Loren walked out of her room and Mel grabbed the computer of the bed. She quickly logged on to the contest’s website. She knew Loren didn’t want to put the song out there, but what if she didn’t know? Mel wouldn’t tell her in case she wasn’t chosen, no hard feelings. She really just wanted to give her a chance. One might not come up again. Mel looked up from the screen to the the wall. Eddie Duran’s face stared back at her. “She better be chosen.” She said quietly to the blank stare.
Then Mel clicked away. After she got the ‘Thank You!’ message, she shut the laptop just as Loren walked in.
“Did I get an email or something?”
Loren sipped her drink before replacing it on the desk.
“Nope.” Mel placed the computer back in its spot. “I had to check my own. I’m waiting for a letter.”
“Oh. From who?”
Loren smiled at her. “You applied?”
Mel nodded. “Yep. NYU.”
“Mel, that’s amazing.”
She nodded again. “Yeah they have an awesome film program. I even applied for USC but I want NYU a little more.”
Loren hugged her. She didn’t even know she considered going to college. “If you go to USC then when I’m famous, I won’t have to go far to get you!”
Mel smiled knowing that she would get famous, because of her. Well her and the fact that Loren could actually sing.
“You still wouldn’t send a private plane?”
“To get you from USC?” Loren laughed. “Maybe a helicopter? Or a limo?”
“A helicopter will do.” Mel smiled.
“Of course.” Loren smiled back.
Sooooo? How was it? Comments would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I’m not gonna tell you, you have to like this for me to write more, I’ll do it anyway lol.
OMG. This was one of the cutest books I’ve read in a while. It had me gasping at the plot and the crazy twist towards the end. It was a quick witted love story that hit the my romance book dry spot.
Summary: Angelina Morgan is a beautiful consultant who practices an ancient art form called Feng Shui. Will Scott is an all-business CEO who doesn’t believe anything he can’t see and touch. With the help of a meddling ex-wife, a well-meaning best friend, and a matchmaking mother, Angelina and Will are about to find out what happens when opposites attract…and sparks fly. (goodreads)
The chemistry between the two main characters, Will and Angelina, is amazing! And its the kind of love-hate relationship in the beginning of the book that had me devouring for more!
I wish it had a sequel, but it doesn’t. However, I am glad it was free from my local library’s Overdrive eBook account!
I read it in less than two hours so, if you want a quick, fabulous read, get on this book! I’m looking forward to her other novels!
(oh and the Taylor Swift song title as the book title didn’t hurt either. Although, I don’t think she meant it to be like that, the tittle doesn’t really relate to the book. It should have been: Paint for Lovers or Feng Sui for the Heart. Oh that’s a good one.)
I recently(yesterday) I wanted to read a quick book that would give me the warm feeling inside of teenage love.
This led me to start scourging the iBook catalog looking for free books that would hit this spot. I came up with a few that, once read, I would do reviews on but on stood out to me.
Clockwise by Elle Strauss:
Casey Donovan has issues: hair, height and uncontrollable trips to the 19th century! And now this —she’s accidentally taken Nate Mackenzie, the cutest boy in the school, back in time. Awkward.
Protocol pressures her to tell their 1860 hosts that he is her brother and when Casey finds she has a handsome, wealthy (and unwanted) suitor, something changes in Nate. Are those romantic sparks or is it just “brotherly” protectiveness?
When they return to the present, things go back to the way they were before: Casey parked on the bottom of the rung of the social ladder and Nate perched high on the very the top. Except this time her heart is broken. Plus, her best friend is mad, her parents are split up, and her younger brother gets escorted home by the police. The only thing that could make life worse is if, by some strange twist of fate, she took Nate back to the past again.
Which of course, she does.
This was such a good book that had me constantly turning the page. The story was smooth and kept me interested.
The main character, Casey or Cassandra (in the 1800s), is transported back into time and is well adapted to both times, then and now, and reminds me quite of Katniss from the Hunger Games with her quick instincts and her adaptability.
And Nate??! Um jerk at first that turns out to be super cute! He’s one of those guys you just want to be like “Kiss her!!” And the way he defended Casey from Robert was awesome!
Anyways, if you want a quick cute read by the pool or a rainy day in, definitely check out this book! It’s free on iBooks right now and there’s a sequel that I have to get!
This is one of the cutest books I have ever read. Here’s a descriptions from Goodreads:
“When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she’s worked so hard for—her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect. Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more. In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.”
I fell in love with this book back when it first came out in 2008. The love story between Brittany and Alex is intoxicating and the dual point of views makes following each characters mind set simple and unforgettable. This is the type of book where you want to know what each character thinks in certain situations and this let’s you as it goes back and fourth.
I personally loved and recommend it to anyone who wants a quick love story pick.
The only downfall to this book is it’s sequels and that’s only because they don’t do this novel justice.
